Social Media Terms of Use

About My Social Media Presence

My campaign uses social media to keep residents, businesses, and visitors in Toronto Centre informed and connected to the campaign. Transparency and accountability are at the heart of everything we do, and our social media presence is no different. These accounts exist to make sure our community always knows what we are working on, why we are working on it, and how decisions are being made on their behalf.

You can find me on the following platforms under the handle @ChrisMoiseTO:

These accounts are managed by my campaign team and are not operated using any City of Toronto resources, in accordance with the City of Toronto's policies.

We know that social media is only one part of how a community stays connected. That is why I host hyper-local annual neighbourhood town halls across Toronto Centre, and why our doors are always open. Real accountability happens in real conversation, and we are committed to both.

What We Post

We use social media as a one-way communication channel. Our posts focus on:

  • My presence and work in the community
  • Community events and announcements
  • Statements and policy positions
  • Local initiatives, programs, and services
  • Information from the City of Toronto and partner agencies
  • Other updates relevant to Toronto Centre

How We Use Social Media: One-Way Communication

My social media accounts are designed to share information with the community, not to serve as a channel for two-way correspondence. We do not respond to comments or direct messages on any of our social media platforms.

This is by design. Social media platforms are not secure environments for sharing personal information, and we want to make sure that anyone reaching out with a question, concern, or service request gets the attentive, confidential response they deserve. The best way to reach me and my team is by email, phone, or in-person in the community or at our Campaign Office.

We are committed to being accessible and responsive to every resident and business in Toronto Centre:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone: (647) 493-3447
  • Address: 119 Church Street (at Queen Street East)

Commenting and Replies

My campaign receives a high volume of racism, harassment, hate, discrimination, and deliberate misinformation directed at me and my team through social media. To protect the mental health and safety of my team, who manage the account, we have restricted comments on every platform that allows us to do so.

I want to be clear: restricting comments is not a retreat from accountability. It is a commitment to it. Harassment and misinformation do not constitute dialogue, and I refuse to allow our platforms to become a space where that behaviour goes unchecked at the expense of the people who serve this community every day.

I believe the most genuine dialogue happens in person and in community. That is why I host hyper-local annual neighbourhood town halls across Toronto Centre, and why my team and I are always reachable directly by email, phone, or in-person. Those spaces allow for real conversation rooted in mutual respect, and we are committed to showing up for them.

If you have a question, an opinion to share, or something you need support with, my team and I want to hear from you:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone: (647) 493-3447
  • Address: 119 Church Street (at Queen Street East)

Service Requests and Personal Information

If someone reaches out to my campaign through social media with a service request or personal matter, we will not address it publicly. We will not acknowledge, share, or reference any personal or confidential information in a public social media space. Anyone sharing personal information through a comment or message should know that social media platforms are not secure channels, and we strongly encourage them to contact us directly so we can assist them appropriately and confidentially.

Protecting the personal information of our constituents is not just a legal obligation. It is a matter of integrity, and we take it seriously.

Content We Will Remove

We are committed to keeping our social media space respectful and safe for everyone. We will remove any comments or posts that contain:

  • Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected ground
  • Personal attacks, harassment, or threats directed at any individual or group
  • Graphic, violent, or sexually explicit content
  • Spam, repetitive posts, or content that is clearly not related to the subject matter
  • Content that shares private or personal information about another person without their consent
  • Misinformation that could cause public harm
  • Content that violates any applicable law

Removing a comment does not constitute a personal judgment. It reflects our responsibility to maintain a space that is safe, inclusive, and useful for the whole community. Where we remove content, we are committed to doing so consistently and in accordance with the standards set out in this policy.

Blocking Users

We will block a user when their behaviour is persistent, harmful, or disruptive in a way that cannot be addressed through content removal alone. Grounds for blocking include:

  • Repeated posting of content that violates this policy after prior removal
  • Sustained harassment of our campaign, our team, or other community members
  • Coordinated or automated spam activity
  • Threats of any kind

Blocking is not a decision we take lightly, and it is not permanent by default. Blocks will generally remain in place until we are satisfied that the behaviour in question will not continue. We apply this measure consistently and without bias. If you believe you have been blocked in error, you are welcome to contact my team, and we will review the decision with the same openness and fairness we apply to everything we do.

How to Submit a Complaint

Accountability runs in both directions. If you believe a comment of yours was removed unfairly, that you have been blocked without proper grounds, or that content on our accounts does not meet the standards set out in this policy, we want to hear from you and we take those concerns seriously.

You can submit a complaint by:

Please include your name, the platform where the issue occurred, and a brief description of your concern. We will review all complaints and respond in a timely manner.

Policy Updates

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in how we use social media or in the platforms themselves. My commitment to transparency means the most current version will always be available on my website.
